I mean one person, who you don't know, compared with a dozen designs competing? Which do you think is going to work better? Do some searches on google and youtube for logo tutorials, you'll get some ideas pretty fast. I didn't really go out on a limb with mine, simple translucent circle with my initials CS and a bit of edging and drop shadow, use it for a watermark too. Sorry, can't find a good accessible sample right now.

And same with hiring a designer, they might get it wrong the first time. If you get someone good, they'll work with it until it's exactly what you like. This is my camera, there are many like it, but this one is mine.

Crowdsourcing, aka spec-work, is like Wal-Mart, cheap, convenient, but bad for everybody in the long run. It floods the market with average designs, while encouraging plagiarism and copyrights violations. Nobody polices these to make sure designs are original. Nobody checks the projects to see if the proper permissions are in place to use photographs. If you use a design that somebody else stole, you could end up paying for it. On top of all that, it's also insulting to creative professionals everywhere What a load of moronic tripe Newfoundland Wedding Photographer
