Very nice catch. Really a time machine looking at the build. Very 60's ish. Must be fun setting all those carbs to idle properly.

You know, that's exactly what I said when I was looking through the shots. Funny thing is that the owner said he had OCD, so when I saw the carbs I wondered if maybe his OCD wasn't as bad as he thought.

Those carbs will seep like that every time the engine is run, so unless he was to trailer it everywhere the next best solution wouldn't be easy at events due to the time needed to complete it, which would be to wait for the engine to cool & then clean them with lacquer thinner and shop rags or whatever. Just like chromed headers blue old carbs seep.

It's sorta like the old radial motors. If they aren't leaking, they're out of oil. ;)

On the same note I once saw a cartoon style thing about the British as to why they didn't really adapt to COMPUTERS, and it was because they didn't leak enough oil. Having worked in a dealership that sold most of the more popular British cars of the era I do know the thought process that prompted that cartoon.

Having worked in a dealership that sold most of the more popular British cars of the era I do know the thought process that prompted that cartoon.

Then you've seen the bumper sticker about Lucas refrigerators being the reason they learned to like warm beer. :D

Wondering how much dirt and crap that engine sucks in. Is there any type of filter/screen in that intake?

Probably not, & even a screen won't keep out the dust that acts like sandpaper on the piston rings. But considering the MTBF rate (Mean time between failure) of a motor of that sort, it's going to get rebuilt often enough that that won't be a factor.

Would cost a few pennies to rebuild after a small stone or something gets sucked into that supercharger. Would be my luck if it were me.
