I'll stay away from posting any higher res that it already is. I'd prefer that they improve their sampling algorithms - messes with my pictures everytime.

Anything you post on Facebook becomes property of Facebook basically.

ToS and CoU of FB should tell you much the same, except in more words.

That's not really true:

For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos ("IP content"), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook ("IP License"). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it.

Just because it is non-exclusive doesn't make it any less true; just means there is no transfer of ownership but an obligatory sublicensing of your content to Facebook.

There are a ton of photographers on Facebook, including some huge pros, like Chase Jarvis and Jeff Sciortino. There are also tons of other photographers, digital artists, analog artists, and creatives in between, and I've never heard of Facebook using their images at all, especially in ways they wouldn't approve.

You're being paranoid.

I love when people debate with the actions of the majority being their foundation for credible response.

Facebook didn't start in honest terms, uses targeting and already uses your friend's photos in ad spaces to showcase their new features (often seen in the upper-right corner -- top of the ad column). It is not as though they include that snippet about IP content just for giggles.

I suppose though from the ill-logic you've submitted, if Chase Jarvis and Jeff Sciortino jumped off a cliff you'd consider their actions a safe bet.

If you resize your images to 720 on the long side before uploading, there are no issues.
