There are a few new versions of DPP out there making the rounds! The Canon S95 seems to ship with version 3.9.0.1 (no typo, it's 0.1 at the end) and the 60D seems to ship with an even newer version 3.9.1.0 (1.0 at the end).
The official US Canon site still only has 3.8.1 available for download.
I just installed 3.9.1.0 from a source I won't mention and so far found the following changes:
- EOS Utility and DPP have some minor UI refinements. Buttons etc. look more "3D". It's subtle, but it's there.
- "Unsharpen mask" sharpening option. DPP now lets you select between the normal single "Sharpness" slider, or switch to "Unsharpen mask" mode which gives you three sliders "Strength", "Finesse" and "Threshold".
- 5 check marks instead of 3 (Alt+1 - Alt-5)
- New rating system in addition to check marks. 0 to 5 stars and "Reject". Hot keys are 0-5 and "X".
- Ability to "tune" white balance settings (not sure if that one was always there
)
- Ability to load in custom picture styles
- Thumbnails in the edit view can now be on the left or the bottom.
- The tool palette now has an image thumbnail in the bottom which allows you to navigate around the image if you're zoomed in.
That's about it...
Looks like a nice update. Hopefully it will be released officially soon.
