Sell 16-35LII for 35L/50L?

I am flirting with the idea of selling my 16-35LII for a 35L or 50L.

On my most recent trip to Europe, I just did not use it as often as I thought I would. Even on Santorini, I found I preferred grabbing my 24-105L and going with one, versatile light-weight lens. And since I have been really impressed by some of my 85/1.8 shots, I think I may be catching some "prime" fever.

This would be on a 5DII.

Am I crazy?

Anyone done this?

Any recommendations in terms of 35L vs. 50L?

I've been asking myself the same question. Mostly because I've been frustrated over the issue of getting precise focus over the zoom range of some of my zoom lenses. That said, I don't know why you've selected those focal lengths unless you plan to get rid of the 24-70, too. If I traded in my 16-35, it would be for the 14mm which costs nearly as much by itself. I already have the 35 and love it. Oviously, the 50 is just not a replacement for a 16-35.

If you found yourself going 24-105 instead of 16-35, it sounds like you don't need the ultra wide focal lengths. Correct? If that's the case, yeah, I would get rid of it.

Don't do it...

If you MUST sell off the 16-35II, replace it with a 16-35I (or better yet, a 17-40) and a 24LII.

But don't do it...

If your style of shooting doesn't justify using it, then sell it.

Personally, I love using it at 16mm. You can really get in close to the subject. REAL close! Eliminates unwanted items (namely people) in my shots.

It's your decision to make.

Thanks for the feedback...will probably continue to shoot with the 16-35LII for another 2-3 months and then ask the question again...if I sell it in JAN/FEB 2011, I could still sell it with 5-6 months left on its warranty.
