..............to read or reflect on the day
Manual exposure, 4 seconds shutter speed, Av f9.5, ISO 100, 14mm focal length.
I am trying to improve my PP skills. I used the graduation filter in Lightroom to darken down the edges and -.35 exposure.

The first thing I look at is the lamp and then my eyes slowly move to the book and the seat. I just would like to see the seat and the footrest a bit brighter. The room feels a tad dark for me.

There is just a bit too much of a deep shadow that hides promises... Very subtle, though. My name is Henk. and I believe "It is all in the eye of the beholder....."

This will cut the amount of light on the walls, then increasing the exposure time will bring them back up while giving you brighter light on the chair and footstool. Annie

Thank you whydub for your comments. I tried to make the room dark, so it featured the lighter items, yet only hinted at what else could be there AmandaMarie wrote in post #11026586 too underexposed for my taste. i get the point, i just think it's too much. nice though. Thanks Mandy, without critique and taking peoples comments on board I will never improve nikjerry wrote in post #11029389 I really like t hat too much. I like that night lamp as well as I also want to say that it looks that much attractive as it is put into the corner and the more thing is that it put near the sofa but the thing which is put beside to it can't see it perfectly. Thanks nikjerry, it sits exactly as you see it there, my wife is the decorator, I’m hopeless haha vk2gwk wrote in post #11029656 Conveys the mood but I agree with Mandy that just a tad more light might make it even better..... Thanks Henk, the heavy darkness is becoming a common theme that I have gone a bit overboard with Annie Social wrote in post #11031136 I would suggest placing a piece of tracing paper inside the far side of the lampshade. Be careful; paper inside a lamp can create a fire risk. Thanks Annie for that idea – I promise not to burn the house down – I could see it now, trying to explain to my long suffering wife, but dear, I was only trying to take a photo haha I would be so divorced haha wizcreations wrote in post #11032196 The photo looks fantastic. It seems that you got it to look exactly as intended. In my personal opinion, though, the photo is far too dark. Thanks wizcreations, there’s that darkness again nüborn wrote in post #11033667 Looks exactly how it used to be when my mother would wait for me to come back home very late... a dark room, that darn light and a book. sigh... so many times I got busted Anywho, as previously said, ad nauseum, exposure on the couch and feet rest should be a tad bit lighter Thanks nüborn. Well, it is back to the drawing board now to try and lighten it up, without making the whole room too light. Lightroom here we come haha Lloyd
