G11/12 and s90/95 Question Re: Focus

I am looking at buying one of the two above. For my needs I think it will more than likely be the s95 with the faster lens. Regardless, I cannot find anywhere whether or not they have the option to focus in places other than the centre of the screen. As in can I move the focus point around the camera.

Any quick responses would be appreciated.

The S95 has face detection and Tracking AF to focus on moving objects... but the standard focus point is fixed to the middle of the frame..

EDIT: just read through my manual, it also had focus lock so you can focus, and recompose before shooting...

Okay. My research has suggested the same. Thats very disappointing.

Fits in my pocket and shoots raw... That's why I got it... The video and other features are a bonus...

Just did a little test... If you use the Tracking AF, I think you might get what you need. Here's what I did, pick a subject, then move the camera, and the AF point stays on the original subject. Might be as good as picking a different focus point like on a DSLR...
