I saw online that one local store indicated they were in, so I went out looking and sure enough, there it was. I was "forced" into upgrading from my old trusty G7 because the G7 suddenly went dead. This after having produced some of the best images I've managed at a concert recently. So I'm mourning the loss of the G7, but looking forward to the G12. The articulating display will be a welcome addition for sure!

So in honor of my G7 and in hopes the G12 lives up to the same standard, here are a couple images from the last G7 session:

Congratulations on your new G12. and nice shots from the G7.

Can you please answer one question so that there is clarity on this topic.

Can you use the optical zoom during taking a video clip?

Thank you and good luck.

Same here. That's the info I was looking for. No optical zoom and probably no continuous focus during video. Hello P7000.

WOW. Your G12 photos look amazing. It almost has the same great quality as my 30D. Hmm...now I am considering to buy the G12 as my handy point-and-shoot camera on the side.

Congrats for the 12. Great picture!
I have the 11, but actually the new features of the 12 are not an upgrade for me.

Enjoy the new camera.

Bye,
Felix.

If everything else is equal, faster is usually better when it comes to a lens. But that's a broad generality that may not always hold. And everything else is not equal between the two cameras. You should decide what features are important to you and assign their weight, then make your decision based on all factors, not just this one.
