I'm looking forward to being able to contribute to:

5DII vs 7D
5DII vs 7D which is better for portraits
Should I buy a 5D MKII
Which is better crop or FF
5DII or 7D for sports
5D Clasic or 5DII - which is best

...threads. etc etc. ;-)a :-)

(not that I can compare the 7D as I don't have one, but I can talk about the 5dII!)

Or the threads like:
I just bought a 5D II!!!!
My 5D just came!!!!!
Hope my wife does not find my 5d II!!!!!
Look at me I have a 5D II!!!!

Do we need a thread everytime someone buys a piece of gear?

SO you bought a 5DII so you could post on threads?

You bought it for all the wrong reasons!

What will happen if the UPS drivers has an accident and you do not get it on Saturday?

On Saturday will you create a new thread titled .... " GOT MY 5DII TODAY ".

Do we need a thread everytime someone buys a piece of gear?

Not sure why but people seem to have this need to tell everyone everything about themselves. In many cases they put out too much information and it bites them in the backside, just look at some of the cases arising from the use of Facebook.

I know people who complain about government intrusion and the loss of privacy who go and spill their guts on social networking sites.

A good friend of mine told the world via Facebook about an expensive purchase he made ... 11 days later his house was robbed by a Facebook 'friend'!

If you have a 5Dc now and are getting a 5DII, then why can't you post in these threads now? Not having a 7D doesn't seem to stop anyone else. :)

Also, I actually find that the 5Dc is better IQ-wise than the 5DII because of the weaker AA filter, and the 5DII has shadow noise like the 7D (not quite as bad) when really pushed up during post. If only the 5DII had the 5Dc AA filter....

lol - strewth, you lot are more cynical than I am! ;-)a

In fairness, I am prety pleased that it's on its way and one of the nice/great things about POTN is that people are really supportive when you post anything on any forum. Plus let's face it, when you've just spent around £2K / $2K plus you want a bunch of people to tell you that you've done the right thing and it'll all be O.K. (your partner WON'T leave you, it'll give you better results (honest) and you won't regret it!)

I've learned loads from this place right from when I got my first 350D.

However, it would be nice if there were a few more stickies that cover the same questions that come up again and again especially the 7D vs 5D and is FF better questions.

You made the right move but don't worry about the above question - just shoot with what you have and be happy.

Hi Iain,

There are other lots here. I am interested in purchasing a 5DMK??? as well and am interested in hearing the experiences of others who have made the purchase. We aren't all cynical. Enjoy your new camera and I'm looking forward to reading your posts.

and that's fine.....look it's all meant to be very tongue in cheek...and if you read my thread I'm not knocking the subject matter as such. I even say that what's good about POTN is how much effort people put into replying to posts.
