really depends on condition of Ds, if it is good condition, not too bit up and not too many shots made , I would get Ds in heart beat... Ds is Pro, 5D is semi pro IMHO

I would go with the 1Ds if it is not a dog. (I would still go for it if it were a puppy)

I think the 1Ds prices will get much lower once the 5D is actually on the shelves...

Depending on how low they get I may consider one myself.

All depends on your needs really... I'ld like to compare them side by side. Probabely things like noise and color are much better on the 5D, since it's 2 (3?) generations younger. The 1Ds offers a pro body OTOH. Then again: do you need that?
I would definately compare side to side, than do some math on the prices, then dicide.
If you don't need the FF a 1D2 might be an option.... I chose one over a 1Ds because the 1Ds noiselevel made it al but unusable at high ISO, and also 1250 being the highest...

Unless you really need the 45 point autofocus and weather sealing, I would go for the 5D. Also, the 5D is a lot smaller/lighter.

if your not to hot at post processing the 5d may be more friendly.

And what makes you think the 5D needs less post-processing? There is too much speculation and no hard facts at the moment and comparisons are pure guesswork. The 1Ds MK-I is an outstanding camera and is only beaten by the MK-II. Even today a lot of what you see in top magazines is shot with the MK-I.

Trust me, you will hear just as many people screaming about soft images from the 5D as every other Canon DSLR that has been released, except for the 1D MK-I with a CCD.

I'd probably get the 5D, because it's smaller, lighter, does everything I need, and will have much better high ISO performance.

The phrase was "more friendly", since, instead of having to set saturation, contrast and sharpening separately they gave it several more friendly "canned" combinations. So it'll be easier to figure out what will give you closer to what you want. Whether this will reduce the number of people who can't figure out the in-camera settings remains to be seen, but it's a big step toward "user-friendly" menu options. Doubtless, the critical users will continue to do it all in post-processing for all the usual reasons.

The 45 point AF and superior build quality of the 1Ds would do it for me. Plus, I've yet to see an example image from the 5D that would persuade me to go out an buy one, despite the FF sensor!
