Any criticism welcome.

Outside shot with tripod - was aiming for wet web but live fly drew my eye. Tamron 90mm manual lens + kenko tube + 500D + 580EX with small inflatable diffuser + shiny saucepan lid as reflector.

I like the concept and composition, but the fly looks a tad soft to me.

There was wind so I did have problems focusing - I guess I need to take many more shots than I did.

Like the colours in the fly's wings but would agree that perhaps a little oversharpened on a soft image.

I agree, though in fact I did only a little sharpening to reduce softening when reducing image size. So I think the image is more in focus than it looks (!?).

However I think I need to work much harder at focus. I do use a mechanical lens (Tamron 90mm SP) which seems optically excellent, but you have to stop down manually after focussing which probably means some movement of the camera (any suggestions?).
