The background is HDR. The woman was extracted from a street photo I took and placed in this picture.

I like the background, but I find it distracting that her head is cropped so near her eyes.

Many thanks for the comment Grimes. I enjoy photos that eschew cliche. This one fits the bill for me. Not for everyone's taste I'm sure.

I agree...
I think she detracts from the image. The background looks amazing!

My photo of that woman is a favorite of mine. Here are the two photos I used to create it.

I like it, just a few small things

maybe feather the selections around her,
do a bit of light wrap (but very very little)
and maybe "relight" her so that the direction of light matches the background

I reckon from an 'exercise' point of view you did ok with this comp mate. I think its a great idea to flex our photoshop muscles every so often.

There needs to be some separation created though and of course the lighting on her should be subdued as she would be partially in a shaded part of that building.

She does seem to fit better in the original. Perhaps try Derrick's suggestions and see if that helps. She is too sharp in the modified photo.

May be my screen, but I don't see it looking fake at all...I had no impression in the first shot that it was a composit image..

The "eyes" have it !

the photoshop work is good but overall the woman just doesn't work in the photo for me.

i know the direction you're trying to go in. check out www.joelgrimes.com (external link) for some top notch composites. his lighting on the subjects doesn't necessarily match the background at all.
