I used to love shooting B/W, especially Tri-X.. I'd love a dollar for every roll and sheet of Tri-X I shot from the early 1970s until the late 1990s.. I loved pushing it to 1600 ISO, I loved the contrast, I loved the grain structure..

Today I went out to my local dingy, dark market,, selected monochrome in my camera's settings, sRAW1 and 6400 ISO to try to emulate Tri-X.. I have rarely been serious about selecting monochrome in my camera's settings, preferring to convert to mono during post processing.. This took me back years..

The result?? Not quite the same, but for me still acceptable and a whole lot of fun..

Can a gun toting lunatic :) say you have great talent with a camera?
Of all the work I see on here yours is some of the best, I have been reading about your D50 use trying to get some tips as I have been finding mine to be somewhat of a challenge.
I also enjoy B&W I use the alien skin exposure plugin for PS to convert. Have you tried it?

Jim

Cool idea and excellent shots, although I think I'd prefer to keep doing the B&W in post.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

Thanks stsva.. I agree you'd have more control converting to mono via post processing but I shot in mono more for nostagalic reasons:rolleyes:

One thing I did notice though, I could easily go back to colour images using DPP..
