Congratulations. It's a stellar performer in its class! I wish it had onboard flash control, but I guess an ST-E2 doesn't take up much space in my man-bag.

Congrats on getting the G12. This camera will be my handy point-and-shoot type on the side with my 30D.

same reason I bought it plus I like having a camera at work where there are often photo opportunities but a dslr can attract the bling police.
I would love to have the dedicated exposure compensation & ISO dials on my dslr, the self timer setting is also brilliant, you can set from 1 to 30secs and 1 to 10 shots using the dials.

Hi,

I'm a newbie to this forum and have just purchased a G12 (battery is charging now!). I've been using a G5 for years for sportfishing photography.

One thing I notice is the lack of an infrared remote, which was very handy on the G5 for self portraits with big fish when I'm out solo in the boat. Perhaps a wireless remote will work with the G12?

Anyway, looking forward to picking up lots of hints on how to get the most out of the G12!

My G11 stays in my car. I missed a wonderful photo op a year ago and I said to myself "never again" and bought a G10 then upgraded to the G11 for the LCD folding screen and the hi ISO performance. Sigh...now comes the G12 and I am tempted to upgrade again.
