hi guys
just looking for opinions im wanting to start up a small little studio in my garage to practise on my kids for now and im wanting to get some lights but not sure weither to get continous lights or strobe lights.
Im pretty much wanting to get soft looking crisp photos and not sure which of these lights to go for any ideas would be great

Strobes would be the way to go. They provide MUCH higher light levels without heating up the area as "hot" (continuous) lights do. Live subjects are usually much happier with strobes, even those with modeling lights.

Bulbs for continuous photographic lighting are expensive and the don't last very long before changing their color.

I agree with Skip.. Flash is the way to go..

You don't have to spend a motza to go off camera flash.. Any Speedlite will do,, Canon's 430EXII is a good reliable choice.. You'll need a stand with flash/umbrella mounting bracket, some way to trigger the flash (Yongnuo RF-602 triggers/receivers are a good inexpensive choice) and an umbrella.. This system is a good start and is expandable..

thanks guys i was leaning towards the strobe anyway but just wanted to get a few different opinions on them i do have the canon 430EXII flash as well do you know of any good sites that have resonable prices kits?

Lisa,, because of where I live (no good camera stores) I buy most things off Ebay out of Hong Kong..
