Paint dancing to music on top of a loud speaker. this is the absolute first shot I took.......i think that was luck, need to improve light and sharpness etc
was inspired by Linden G's work for the new canon pixma adverts, his shots can be seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/13084997@N03/ (external link) he does use prfessional equipment such as sound activated trigger with delay etc. and obviously I still have a lot of trial and error to do as so far i only end up with drop explosions. I think this was a nice try.....after one or two days i will try again, and probably will use the subwoofer.

would love some CC

I have no experience in this type of photography so I can't offer any helpful C&C really...but I must say that these are really awesome! Nice dof and sharpness...love the colors and comp of #2.

Fabulous captures, only question is how much mess does this create.

thanks both! it was my first time for this..........learned heaps........need to learn to make the paint dance more in films, rather then being projectiled drops.

Corkney, quite a mess, but the splatters dont travel any further then about 15 inches....i do suggest a uv filter on your lens though

day 2 of learning.....continue to learn, a lot better today! applied some lube to the balloon to make it shine like a mirror! thinned down the paint even more and played lots with garageband to generate tones and vibrations......now if only i had a more powerful and faster flash so i could go to a smaller aperture

Those are really cool. What do you have between the paint and the camera for protection?

erhm nothing, the paint shoots mainly up, it would have to fly almost direct into the lens as i use a 4 inch long lens hood, apart from that the paint only flies away for about 8 inches and im about 12 inches away from it. today its all much more controlled, thinner paint, lubed balloon, going much smoother.....time for a real serious session to make some beauties

Your a braver man than me sir. May I suggest a filter and a disposable camera rain cover there about $5 for 2 at most camera shops; just to be safe.

#3 is much better...IMO...the tighter shot works much better. Would crop quite a bit out of the top of the second one...and yes scale down the watermark. Other than that I love these...great color and detail in the individual drops.
