The A/Factory Experimental (A/FX) class was the beginning of the Funny Car era. The wheelbase was altered for better weight distribution & the front leaf springs saved 40 pounds over the factory torsion bar suspension.

Mike built it in his garage in two years, & in this street trim, it should turn in the 11 seconds, even though it does handle like a truck.

Very cool. 2 AFB's which should be period correct. I sure remember that era & likely still have some of my magazines from it too. Great to see someone clone one. I never went that far but did put a straight axle under my 55 Chev back then.

Pulling up next to that at the lights would be great. You'd have to go it, just to see it fly :D.

How did that work out?

You'd have to go it, just to see it fly

You have that right, except that he'd probably just sit there & laugh? ;)

Thanks for the comments!

It didn't work out very well as a street driver. Very hairy whenever you floored it, but it was a well known car locally, but not the only 1 that got the treatment. There was a Falcon that also had it done along with having a pretty expensive engine built for street racing etc. We never ended up at the same place at the same time so who knows what might have happened, but I strongly suspect there would have been a lot of noise, some tire smoke & he'd have won.

I strongly suspect there would have been a lot of noise, some tire smoke ...

This is where the saying started that "Getting there is half the fun!"

...& he'd have won.

Never overlook the opportunity for someone to miss a shift! :D

love the window stickers .

My favorite has always been the "North Woodward Timing Assn."
