Any help and critique is welcomed! Like I said this is my first attempt at really doing this and being happy with how it turned out. It is a little noisy, but I don't know how to fix that...

for starters ... nice idea ... I like the narrow frame with a long lens and the subject is interesting. I think the eyes should be centered in the frame and that the lightly haired head be covered (a cap) for extra texture and balance in the frame. The highs and mids are handled well but the lows drop to black. It would be nice to have more shadow detail and better clarity in the eyes. Print work can solve this (photoshop). I like the feathered sides but think the top and bottom might be better feathered too. I think it's mostly from a hard edge / soft edge parallelism combined with the need to have the baby's head have a soft edge on top.

Thank you :) I caught him as he woke up and he was watching me through the crib rails. I am going to work on it some more tonight and apply your critiques. Thank you again for your response.

Hi

I love this photo, it has a very pure feel to it.....it is just the kind of pictures I am preparing to take of my children for my newly decorated room, it is pure white, all white walls, white and ss furniture, and simple light canvases on the walls.

I am by far a pro, but one thing I would have changed, I would have stood back slightly (or less crop) to allow the outer edges of the crib bars to show (only about another inch either side) because at the very first glance, it did look as though the picture had been taken with the baby behind two solid obstructions, and the bars may add a better detail.

This is only my opinion from checking out the pic, and it may well look no better, if you were to do this, I hope you dont mind, I am not critisizing it at all. Well done.!!

Thanks Hollyjack! I see what you mean about the rails... I will have to stand back more just because I didn't crop this... I will have to try this shot again because I would like to get it developed and put it in his room, when he finally moves into his own...

Your opinion is appreciated! Thank you for your response!
