My YN RF602 triggers can wake flashes from sleep with a half-press of my camera's shutter button, which is an extremely useful feature that allows me to use less expensive Canon EZ series flashes instead of the expensive Nikon SB-24/25/26/28 flashes that are always in high demand.

Have there been any recent flash triggers that integrate this ability, or are the RF602s still the only cheap triggers that can do it?

Skyports do this, I believe, but they aren't "cheap" (they also aren't super expensive).

There is a thread here about a new trigger, that looks much like the RF-602 that apparently will wake a flash from sleep.

Its only advantage over the RF-602 is a trigger that has a locking pin. Otherwise about the same.

If you have a solution, why look for an alternative?

Hmm, I had read other places that it would. Ignore my advice then.

Yeah, this is one thing I like so much with the RF-602s.

Just wondering if the market has advanced since I got my RF602s

The Meike MK-RC7 will also wake up flashes, it uses AAA batteries in the transmitter and it has a hotshoe locking pin.

Get some Vivitar 285 HVs. They are cheap and don't go to sleep.

I was going to say that if you were looking for e-ttl wireless triggers to wait until next year as several chinese manufacturer's are coming out with products. But if you're using EZ series flashes then it doesn't matter to you. :)

With EZ flash why you put the flash in sleep mode anyway? I never put my camera or flashes in sleep mode if I am out shooting.

430EZ has a hard-wired 90 second sleep timer. 420EZ has a 5 minute one. 540EZ has a on/off switch for the sleep mode.

That's part of the reason they're less expensive than the equivalent Nikon speedlights...not many triggers can wake flashes from sleep.

Good to know that. Thanks. I only used 540ez with dedicated switch.
