I've looked at this lens so many times to purchase. I'm a Nikon shooter (sorry) and sold my 55-200mm lens due to being complete rubbish for moving subjects. I keep hoping in vain that maybe one day soon another option will be available that is cheaper than the 70-200s but has superb optics through out the range.

every once in awhile I dig this lens out on a shoot just to see what it can do in different environments. This time is was with studio lighting. I usually use a 50mm F/1.8 for this type of shot. The Tamron is ok...does the job. Wouldn't use it over the 50mm for this type of work though.

I recently got this lens, initial impressions are 50/50 so far. It is good and sharp when stopping down to F8 but this is not always an option due to available light and required shutter speeds for certain shots etc. VC on this lens is amazing though!

I still need practice with auto focus on moving subjects - still not very good at this and my results are far from ideal.

I'm going to give this lens a few weeks/months to impress me, if not I'll throw it back on the net for sale and maybe bite the bullet for a more exotic telephoto.

Hi Maverick14
Are you using BBF and Ai Servo for your moving subjects? For me, now that I switched to BBF my success rate has gone up quite a bit although I need a lot more practice for birds in flight. My Tammy 70-300 is rarely off my camera. I'm sure you will enjoy your new lens as much as the rest of us.
