I'm a Nikon shooter (sorry) and sold my 55-200mm lens due to being complete rubbish for moving subjects. I keep hoping in vain that maybe one day soon another option will be available that is cheaper than the 70-200s but has superb optics through out the range.

This time is was with studio lighting. I usually use a 50mm F/1.8 for this type of shot. The Tamron is ok...does the job. Wouldn't use it over the 50mm for this type of work though. kyla: shot with a Tamron 70-300mm F/4.0-5.6 VC Canon T2i | Canon 6D |Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L |Canon 200mm F2.8L | Canon 100mm F2.0 | Canon 50mm F1.8 | Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD |Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8|Yongnuo 560 III (x5)

It is good and sharp when stopping down to F8 but this is not always an option due to available light and required shutter speeds for certain shots etc. VC on this lens is amazing though!

I still need practice with auto focus on moving subjects - still not very good at this and my results are far from ideal. I'm going to give this lens a few weeks/months to impress me, if not I'll throw it back on the net for sale and maybe bite the bullet for a more exotic telephoto. Hi Maverick14 Chuck
