Got mine today from Crutchfield. the SN is 024xxx so looks like it's high enough to not have the problem with 5,000 ones. One thing I notice is the Model number is A005E. Does anyone know the difference between A005E and A005C. Don't think it a bid deal, box says its for USA and Canada only. Tx

---------------
Update: Solid feel to it..Its huge and makes the T2i body almost too small. I am going to order the battery grip to balance it out and have extra juice to shoot this weekend.

And this is how I received the lens... I let Amazon know how I felt about this.

Looks a lot like the old B&H shipping. I got a new 30D in a box a lot larger than that with one small ballon. It survived OK but I sure wouldn't want to get glass that way. Isnt there supposed to be a proof of purchase inside that little knock out on the side of the box for rebate purposes?

I did manage to get a quick photo of my bamboo. It sits in the dining room. I shot from the living room. Shot as Medium jpg. I do like the quality. Hope the next one works!!

Yea, there's all kinds of things wrong with this purchase. I will never order from "Amazon Warehouse Deals" again. I like the quality of the lens bu since there is no exchange, only refund, I will have to wait til I receive the refund to order another one.

Lets hope it isnt a wait for the check refund...
BTW it isnt real cold where you are is it? Sometime if you bring a new lens in the house from very cold out doors it can cause internal problems if you dont wait for it to warm up and dry out inside.

Went to B&H Photo store today in NYC and they were out of stock and didn't have a demo on the floor either. Was interested to see the size and build quality firsthand before I buy.

Must be selling well with the $50 rebate.

I'd venture as such, this is lens is very close to the 70-200 F4IS in optical quality, and probably matched in AF, with better IS at 1/4 the cost. If you can live with the slowish variable aperture it's an excellent lens.

Wow, that's a ringing endorsement! I was actually considering the Canon 70-200 f/4L non IS, but after hearing the above, I think I'm sold on the Tamron!

Haha that's crappy. But honestly, they could have probably shipped it without the big box and it'd be just fine. The packaging inside the Tamron box is designed to protect the product.

Was it amazon or a third party shipping through Amazon?

Either way, probably nothing to worry about.

"Fullfilment by Amazon"

Oh! I forgot to mention, they used some company called Ontrac to deliver! So the delivery van pulls up, its an all white beat-up van with no logo or anything!! WTF? lol

By they way, there were only 2 in the "Amazon warehouse deals" when I ordered mine and now there are four more... Suspect.

Anyway, I will not be ordering the next one through "Amazon warehouse deals"

By the way, love the signature Cesium! I thought mine was funny!

You didnt miss the post about it coming in defective? Nothing to worry about? Well I guess not now, its already broke. I just have to wonder how many lenses people cry about being back focus, front focus, unreliable focus out of the box, became that way as the result of shoddy packing and shipping

Well mine just came in around 2 hours ago. Picks will be posted tomorrow. I did order from Amazon and was shipped and packed great with no problems.

S/N # 028713
Model: A005E

Can't wait to get some shots with it. Really impressed with the build, the rings are tight but smooth.
