Love the color and the shallow DOF but the picture doesn't grab me. If your shooting flowers at an odd angle it needs to be interesting. I'd like to see more if you have any.

I like this shot. It's dreamy and peaceful. It would make a great wall covering in a hospital or nursing home. You might try cropping a tiny bit off the right.

It is a very pretty image. Nice colours and focus and it shows the flower at its budding and full bloom stage. But as a "flower" shot it lacks detail that would have shown at a different angle. When you want to show a flower "close up" you would want to have some idea of the "inside", size and positioning of stamen and pistil and the like.

Not really in all..I think this one shows the softness of the hues, not going for intricate details...I have loads of shots that show the petals and buds as soft...sometimes you go with what the colors dictate? The pink lends itself well to a blurred/soft romantic look.

I agree with Henk in that it's a bit of an inbetween shot but it does have an indefinable appeal to it which makes it hard to dismiss.

Don't take me wrong. I think it is a very nice photo! Exposure is very good, the colours are great and focus is just right. Composition and bokeh give a "dreamy" feel.
I only gave my personal opinion about how to take close up flower shots when you want to show what the flower look like.

Nothing wrong with giving your opinion in POTN (as long as you agree with everyone else! ;-)a )

But seriously, I'll have to say that the shot in question has a remarkably low number of colours, which I also find VERY peaceful and relaxing.
Regards,
Simon

Wow thanks all for the replies i'm very happy with the feedback you guys provided. I'm still very new to this macro/close up photography and eager to learn about it. i'm still saving for a 100mm f2.8 macro lens (broke student) so this one was done with an old FD 50mm macro and an adapter.
