Although I have nothing to post at this time, I will soon attempt to capture the Reno air races next month. I have never tried to shoot such fast moving objects. Is it as hard as it looks???

Reno is not really the greatest place for photography, the racers are a bit far unless you have a 400mm or bigger and most of the time all you get to see is the bottom of the plane.
Don't get me wrong Reno is an awesome experience. A pit pass is a must! I'll be there all week.

You have some really cool photos there. I have checked out ther rest of the photos that you have and I found this one really cool. I like the way the light reflects off the blades.

What Victor said is right. Look at his stuff and mine (just click my link at the bottom), and you will get the idea of what you can get from the spectator access. Victor has a little better access than I do, so he can get somewhat closer, but they are still out there. Reno is more about the experience. You just can't believe how fast and low these guys fly. This ain't no airshow!!!

You funny, Guy... Reno also creates some interesting challenges like shooting for five or more days in a row with a big telephoto lens for eight hours + each day. Last year the week started out with temps in the 90's Friday was a little cooler but very windy, Sunday the temps were only in the 40's and on Monday it snowed. You also have to deal with late night hanger parties and BBQ's and then getting a wakeup call at 7am By one of the Teams warming up there 500+mph Mustang.... It's rough...HAHAHAHAHAHA, and top of all that I was still using my Rebal POS (kidding it's a good camera).

I think it's great that you posted it! People need to see that everything we shoot isn't perfect & we get our share of junk, just like everyone else. (Or they'll never post anything!) ;)
I can sympathize with that schedule. If we ever meet I'll tell you about those "fun" car location trips to exotic locations! :D:D

Well, you picked a good year to go. The Snowbirds are going to be there, and if they are ungrounded by then, the Thunderbirds are scheduled also...

When you go you will see three types of races in Unlimited. There is nothing like the race for the "gold". You will enjoy it. You can shoot from the pits or the north end by the static A/C out on the point.

Cheers,

Lynn

Thunderbirds are already back in the air. They will fly this weekend. Now the Snowbirds just lost a plane, pilot ejected safely. Don't know if they will be down for awhile.

Ahh yes, Strega's Sunday morning run @ 7AM. It will make you run from the parking lot to the pits, if you have any more wind in the lungs. Something about the cool morning calm wind that is changed as Strega takes off and flies over head and then the pass...............

Cheers,

Lynn
