Time-lapse of Comet 103P Hartley

Here's a little timelapse of the comet from last night (10/5/2010). 71 - 1 minute images sequenced together. Shot with a 50D through a 10" telescope @ f/6.3 on an Atlas mount.

~8mb animated gif file but best viewed in quicktime viewer. For some reason IE seems to slow it down near the end. ( .2 sec steps)

Awesome. Only comet I've shot was Lulin last year (external link). I tracked on the comet instead and got the stars trailing. Dew started dimming it by the end :(

Very cool! Hoping to get my gear before the comet is gone ... it's FINALLY on order!!!


2x 50d: with 17-85mm f4-5.6, 100mm Macro USM, 50mm f1.8, 2x Sigma 30mm f1.4, 55-250mm (kit lens), Canon 100-400mm L, Tamron 200-400mm f5.6, Samyang 8mm. 480mm refactor with HEQ5. Home made beamsplitter stereo rig.
