My 1999 Australian Holden VT Commodore

Hi all, this is my third post here on CDP. I bought my DSLR under two weeks ago so my pictures are only at a beginners level. Let me know what you think and how i can improve them.

Canon 1000D, pretty sure these are all shot with an aperture of f2.5 (in aperture mode), i think i bumped the ISO up to 400/800.

Pic #2 has irrelevant building in bg. Pic #3 has water at crazy angle - maybe you cropped off the level horizon? If you feel the angle is more dramatic, then get rid of bg which makes the car look like it's falling backward. Odd reflection in headlite cover and because of sun on water the car is a bit dark.
Just nitpicking - I like the pics and the car.

G'day plexica, thanks for the feedback i will take it into consideration next time. I do like the dramatic angle of the third pic, i think if i had the car on that angle in the first pic it would be a winner.

Nice car =) Next time use a tripod, if you dont have one, get one. that way you can keep your ISO low as possible to keep the quality. plus it will help eliminate photographer reflects lol.
In my opinion tilted shots genernally aren't cool ( sorry ) the photo should have enough impact in itself not to need to be on a crazy angle. I think the first one is on enough of an angle as it is and would be ruined if you added angle.
Also to quote John J, cows belong on the grass not cars =P

Thank you Cory. I have always liked the angle of the third pic, but i sure as hell don't disagree when you say the picture should have enough impact in itself. I will work on the quality and maybe then there wont be any need for the dramatic angles :P

As for location.. i read open areas with a broad background are the best for Automobile pictures. This location was close to home so i thought i would try it out.

I don't mind a few dramatic angles as long as you have at least one shot in the series that makes the car look great, & you've done that. The light on all of them is good, & #2 is as good as it gets. The hood, front, side & windows look great, & even though you have a house & tree growing out of it, it's not a big thing to me because the rest of the car looks so good.

love the plate. Im a sucker for air as ive built a few air ride trucks a air ride VW once.
as mentioned before, tripod is great and the best thing to do is keep shooting and practicing

Mmm, nice VT mate. The light is really nice, especially on number 3. Also like the custom badging - very classy. But, what have you done to your bonnet? It looks like the sort of hump you see covering a Boss! Looks tough but, very nice car.

Good stuff. Nice start.

The first pic could do with a colour balance adjustment.
Second one really has a great light and reflection across the car.
3rd pic is good but you should decide how important the background is either include or cut it. Don't go half way on something bright or more interesting than the car.

I'm no pro like Corey or the others but there's a few thoughts for you

Yes/no/maybe. The correct WB isn't always the right WB, & in most cases I think we should allow for the photographers interpretation of the shot.
Would the last shot here, '40 Fords - Three of 'em! look better if I'd used the right WB?
