How can manual focus be way out? It's what you make it, if it's soft it's your eyes that are stuffed.

I think thats the point Dave ;)

So long and thanks for all the flash

It is difficult to accurately manual focus with lenses faster than 2.8 using the viewfinder & the standard screen, need one of the split prism focusing screens.

an update on the house burglary, police will be looking for a couple of clowns carrying a LCD TV that's [Still] bolted to the top of a cabinet. (the rest of the cabinet is scattered around our dining room)

And I'm not sure if they've made off with an IR converted 10D & 50mm f/1.8 (at least it isn't where I remember it being)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
TF posting: here :-)

You talking about the manual focus comment?

Possibly...

The thing that strikes me about photography is that it is all things to all people. Aunt Mable can take her happy snaps on her $99 Fuji sh!tbox and as long as she shows them to her grandkids on the 1.2" display which ruins colours she's happy. On the other end you have people paying obscene amounts of cash for photos of The Rein, and I admire that, having seen some of the guy's work printed large in Tate Modern.

There's no right or wrong, just the use of images and making them.

I just kinda figure that maybe a bunch of people who actually hang out on a photo forum (let's face it as people who own cameras go, that makes us pretty big nerds) might actually be trying to push the concept of taking photo a little further.

I dunno, maybe I'm being a grumpy c*** but next we'll be organising meets to stand on bridges at night and shoot traffic making pretty lines... or complaining the bottom of a jam jar isn't sharp.

All the people on here struggling with no shooting much or having lost their mojo either need to step it up or stop trying. Take random snaps like Aunt Mabel.

I'm about ready to torch my gear, I've a tank of petrol with Canon's name on it, and yet tonight taking a photo has been about the only thing I could use to sound off. It was that or something else far worse...

I dunno where I'm going with this so I'll shut up...

Cheers, Dave.

Yep, I chose the stop trying option. I'll still buy a better than average random snaps camera though. ;)

I agree with your second paragraph i've quoted.. Life is busy and things get in the way, but you just have to push through - I myself, am guilty of not shooting anything just for me.. its always the paying clients work... But at the same time it's always a constant push to see how things can be done differently. For our business we cant afford to lose 'mojo'.. but I guess we're in a bit different boat to most here.. There's no point wallowing though - you just have to get on with it and do it. :)

The iphone (Instagram) makes it a lot easier to just take photos of anything and everything though... and its the one camera I always have on me and probably should use it a lot more....

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.
