TODO tommorow: calibrate laptop screen.

How can you calibrate a laptop screen? Unless you use it at exactly the same angle and sit in front of it at exactly the same place, every time, then there is always going to be variation isn't there? Or have I missed something.

visit to optician, subject, lighting, composition, processing, photographer, equipment. (in that order I'd say)

Well .. yes and no!
It certainly can't harm can it!
On my Sony laptop, the screen calibrates pretty well, and the colours/brightness seem to be pretty stable and consistent even if you look at it from different angles.

I like that much better than the other, nice and warm, would strongly consider hanging it in my lounge.

Surprised to see others who like me, believe the photo should as far as possible be made in the camera. Recently took a 16 yr old schoolgirl under my wing and she was most unaccepting of that theory (it can be fixed in photoshop, she used toycamera). Wasn't even prepared to learn the very basics of the relationship between aperture and DOF, wanted to just leave the cam on auto, I could not get her into raw at all, take pics and play on the computer. Most of her work looked like faded old polaroids. While teaching her was a struggle, I did feel she was wasting the potential of a nice brand new Nikon dslr :(

I always try and get it as right in camera for proper processing later! :D

Tony that looks great! I have a reverse nd grad its 0.6 (2 stops) normaly need a stronger one but you can use a normal grad upside down half way down the frame (on the horizon) and two upside down together too..

Nice Tony, if anything I'd say lighten up the bank on top left and the sea on the right. Otherwise I really like it.

Cheers, Paul.
If it moves, shoot it. If it shoots back, get a bigger lens.

Hopefully should be able to do something tomorrow as well.

Wifiee went out and bought the lights etc for the alterations and I've had to spend most of the day altering the wiring to suit the new switching and control layout required. Grrrrrr. No easy when the ceiling is in!
