Random question, how many k's roughly should a tank of gas get you ? Did tests on the old car but cannot remember what it was, think it was around 600. The new car just seems very thirsty

My current car (Skoda Octavia Scout 4WD) gets about 750 KM on 55 litres. Diesel.

Another random question for the techies... whats the easiest way to test a USB device speed? Windows 7 or XP are available.

Not really. You can use a disk testing tool, but it'll give you the same results. You could trythis memory card tester, which happens to report speeds as it goes.

As tim stated - not really - and doing it this way is real world performance... not some fake test.

The bigger the file - the more accurate the test will be - as some things can deal with short bursts of higher transfer due to buffering.

Another question, I managed to get hold of a laptop for my oldest son for Christmas. (It was at the top of his wish list). He is 12. Does anyone have any suggestions for parential control software.. The main thing I am worried about is the internet. I don't want to ban him from using internet, but there are some pretty shadey sites out there. Akiwi in answer to your question I used ipcop at work. Runs on a 486 if required. As for win 7 like Aaron havnt used it but will do some research and come back to you.
I know my girls are on game sites a lot with "chat" rooms so I check the history and like just to make sure they are safe.
