nice have you got a datacap?

that reminds me, any kiwis know of a good plan to change too. I am with xnet and at $1 per gb

Yes, I am limited to 15 GB / Month, and as yesterday was the first day I have been online for 3 weeks and in 1 day I used up 4GB I am very worried that 15GB wil not be enough.

we'd noticed the quietness... ;) Funny, I have a customer over here that has a Deutsch Telekom WAN circuit - and it runs at less than 10% of the speed of yours & they're always complaining it's unuseable (but then I guess you get what you pay for eh?)

Yes, The problem is that where I live I can only get a maximum of 1 MBit/s to 2 MBit/s over the telephone line. There is no cable so I thought I would try LTE (Over radio signal). I must say I am very impressed with the speed. It makes Youtube watchable. However If I look at the data volume we used up in 1 day I don't know yet if it is worth the extra cost that I have to pay for it. I can download 15GB, and if I exceed that amount then the rate is drosseled to 380KB/s!!!
I have 14 days to try it out and then have the option to cancel the contract and perhaps go back to a much cheaper unlimited volume but at 1 to 2 MBit/s.

Bit frustrating as most people get 16 MBit/s for the same price that I have to pay for 1 MBit/s. All depends on where you live.

be honest the account works fine however my upspeed is 128k which makes it hard to send emails with attachments or upload photos and what not to some online service. it also makes it impossible to use any cloud service.

My total bill a month is around $70-80 and I would like it cheaper. :) But really looking at the other prices around the place nothing really is that much cheaper.

Well I have emailed xnet asking what the deal would be if I wanted faster upload speed. Will see what they say.

I had a look at their website - looks like Teresa Gattung's school of showing customers what they're paying for Vs. getting.

I don't have internet, but would like to. I was thinking is it snap? but the part that bugs me is the cost of a land line, which I don't have. Even woosh seems to want you to have phone now :(

trying to find a way to cheaply scan some negatives in to a digital file. using an external flash to back light the film and take a photo. Works well. need to find a better way than trying to hand old it tho.

This photo was taken last year (doh) at the closing of the CBD cinema complex using my brothers Olympus OM2-n and 50mm

Tricks are tricky.
Not doing much photography at the moment. I seem to be going through a creative pause or something. Has been a f..ing long winter and spring is very late. Apparently the least sun hours recorded for 55 years or something this winter. Still snow everywhere. But it is supposed to warm up this week, and my garden is full of snowdrops pushing up through the snow and narcissus also clawing up through the snow. So spring is in sight.
The immensity of spring here in Europe can't be compared with anything in N.Z. after 4 1/2 months of cold, grey leafless trees. no colour, no birds and no smell Spring is a very welcomed sensual orgasm.

I guess looking at www.courtier.co.nz:102 (external link) might be a bit depressing then... (temp in my comms cabinet in the roof)

it is, seems that some ISP's block port 102 though. Picture yourself a daily graph that fluctuates between 25 degrees & 43 degrees. Probably not within spec for running some comms gear & the webserver. At least the webservers' expendable.

I've shuffled the port numbers so now uses tcp443 so www.courtier.co.nz:443 (external link) should work...
