Are there any filter experts around here.

After getting the 6D and using my 17-40 F4 and the vignetting with my P filter to way to much so I am looking for the Z-Pro or the X-Pro, which one is the best one to get where I wouldn't get any vignetting at 17mm?

I don't want to get the Z-Pro if I still going to have an issue. The type of filters I am likely to get is a Grad ND4 and a ND8 Filter and a Polarizer

Get Lee.
Or at least 100mm filters Lee or Hitech.
Anything else is a wast of time.

Lee/100mm holder with WA adaptor and 2 filter slots is fine for a 17-40L with nothing showing in the frame.

2 slots + 105mm filter ring thread and CPL will show in corners - recommendation is to have a 1 slot holder the 105mm thread and a thin cpl. Or use the square cpl.

I buy from 2filter.com (use a reshipper) or phototronic.co.nz

I've got the 16-35 and on the 1DsM2, the HiTech 2 slot 100mm filter holder doesn't show up. The 16-35 is an 82mm thread. I did have to modify the 82mm adapter though because of the closeness of the hood attachment bits. I bought mine through T/Me.

Note though lee filters are 4mm thick hitech are 2mm thick - the holder rails are setup as expected for this. So a Lee filter wont fit into a hitech holder very well and vice versa.

You can get alternative thickness rails. I have hitech ND's on a lee holder and it works ok though (all lee grads tho).

edit: I have posted this video because I think it's a reminder of how sometimes we have down periods where things are looking down and that sometimes we compare ourselves to much to other people at times. I think esp when it comes to photography and my post last week regarding the photo that I posted. Rob had posted something which I considered nicer to what I had posted and there thought that my photo is less better. As a photographer and even as a person we all have to consider that what we taken and how we present the photo is a reflection on ourselves and shouldn't be compared to what others have done or should expect us to take.

We all have down moments in photography and think that our work isn't any good. We should hang up that camera and find something else. But we should all remember that we are harder on ourselves more than anyone. And photography is a medium that takes a life time of learning to master esp if your not doing it day to day.

if now I can know how to embed the video.

Very sad. Who was at the service?

Unfortunately we were out of town for business, but glad to hear GKPE was there to celebrate Kirst's photography and life :(

Moppie did a sterling job of reading Dave's words for Kirst at her funeral. In my opinion, they were the most moving words said that day. Dave's words left me with a very acute sense of Dave and Kirst's friendship. A friendship that has been tragically cut short. I can only begin to imagine what Dave is feeling. I have said it before and I'll say it again. Dave, I am so sorry.

I consider myself very lucky to have known Kirstine. I spent some interesting times with her where I got a glimpse into some of the difficulties she's had in her lifetime (some of those on this forum will be familiar with those troubles - Kirst had more friends than perhaps she knew). But, despite those momentary glimpses, I never knew things were as bad as they were. I had spoken with Kirst for quite some time in March this year, she was upbeat and seemed to be enjoying her life. Perhaps it was just a 'show' for me. I don't know.

Needless to say, I was simply staggered when I heard the news......

It throws into perspective all that we 'think' matters in this life. So much of our day-to-day troubles really shouldn't be given any level of importance. Enjoying life is the most important thing we can strive for. Being happy. Having support networks and people you can speak to HAS to be one of the key things in life. Without them, some obstacles seem insurmountable.

For some people, they will not be able to see a way out, period. We must all realise that we will never be able to 'save' everybody. I struggle with that at times. Some will chose a path that ends their troubles abruptly - without them having to go through the struggle of confronting those troubles. Unfortunately for those left behind, it leaves only unanswered questions and the despair that comes with knowing that they would have helped if only they'd been asked.....

I have some really neat memories of Kirst and it's those that I will cherish in years to come. The fact that she left us early is a long-distant second.

Godspeed 'iKirst', you are one in a million.

Cliff

Well said Cliff.

I've lost a father and several friends who saw no way out.

We all have days where the walls close in, where there is no light at the end of the tunnel and the pressure is to much its crushing.

Its THOSE days where we need to ask for help or if we know someone is having trouble just to ring and say hi and see how they are doing.

There has been many a friend here who has helped me though some of my very dark days so to you I say thank you for been there to listen, to ring and visit with out me asking and making sure I was ok. To those I've helped in their dark days it was my pleasure to offer friendship and to see you come out the other side.

Totally agree with what both you & Cliff have said.

Now, in unrelated matters, as I discussed earlier, I have started to off-load some of my surplus stuff on T/M. You guys are probably not interested in it but I wounder if I could get some pricing feed back.

The TS-e seems cheap Mark - I sold mine last year for 1200...
