spent 2 days in Ak hospital on morphine (kidney stones as it turned out) can't say I've been in much mood for anything...

Ouch, that does not sound/look like fun. Hope you heal up fast.

Haven't been out much this week. Was in Christchurch last weekend and caught sunrise over Governers Bay. My 7-year old was getting antsy in the car, so it was a quick jump out, shoot, hop back in affair. Seems like some nice terrain in/around the bays and Banks Peninsula to play with.

that's not every good.

I just noticed that my macro lens has got some fungus on it. it looks like it's on a couple of the glasses inside.

So the question is, worth getting repaired sooner or later? I have had the lens since 2005. Would Canon be the better place for the repair or somewhere else?

A while back you may remember I asked re uv filters. I have now removed them and found camera is focussing far more precisely and quickly. These Auckland pics, and those on flickr were taken with Hoya polariser, the shops was just bare lens. Thanks for your advice.

I use Greg here:

He has just replaced the flex in my 24-105 for around $200. Service is excellent.

I have heard using a UV light can put an end to that, not sure if that would work on a modern lens or not, coatings might block it.

Anyone seen this?

Not sure it would work unless there is somewhere for air to get in, a vacuum requires air movement to move dust, just lowering the air pressure in the camera isn't going to help!

I guess it could help. You can see that the exhaust fan is in the middle, and outside of that is obviously a filtered area where the air can get in.
