^^^ Is yr 100mm the non L one, are you happy with it? I have also been pondering the 50 1.8 lens.

Now some sad news, for those of use whose cameras have wheels ;) , my Primera blew the CVT gbox today. Had to drive from Devonport to Milford in gear 1 at 4000 rpm :(

Yep and I get some good shots with it. it's nice and sharp. I looked at the reviews that compared the too and quality wise not much to them. I like the lens and would get it again. If your going to shoot bugs the IS might be helpful, but sometimes your shutter speed is fast so no point in having it.

100 F2.8 non-L is a very sharp lens, for macro and portraits. You have to MF for macro generally, AF doesn't work well at macro distances on any macro lens I've tried. You don't need IS for macro, you need to add light IMHO.

Was in Christchurch for the weekend and made it out to Taylors Mistake for the first time yesterday at dawn. What a great little place. So many photographic possibilities. The weather cooperated and provided some good lighting. Got soaked by the waves and attacked by seagulls (wandered too close to their nests), but came away with a few shots...
