Wow, that was super helpful, thanks a bunch! I think the New Zealand company might be my best bet if I do think seriously about it. What do you mean about recalibrating bodies and lenses though for the Southern Hemisphere? I'm not sure if I completely understand.

Any chance you can point me towards those POTN members? Maybe I can ask them to second shoot or something just to get started. Definitely looking for high end and medium end market, for sure.

speaking of photography, are there any N.Z. locals interested in hosting a nifty 50mm f/1.8 in the next wee while? I managed to get one quite cheap recently (okay it was in two halves at the time) and will be adding it to the number of units floating around the potn-sphere for folks to borrow/loan & take shots for the "Where's Nifty" thread. Knowing a lot of you are superb photographers, we/you should be able to raise the standard somewhat... any takers?

I suspect I maybe one of the unsuperb ones . I am working on increasing my mobility (there goes the new 11-40) when I have got that done yep, I'm in. Have been seriously thinking of buying one. a 50mm that is.

I didn't know that! Definitely changes thing a little, haha. Do you see a lot of American photographers in NZ or is it mainly just New Zealanders? It's on my bucket list of places to visit. I think I'll prob scale down my goals to landscape or vacationing for now.

Theres a lot of photo tourism here, some US 'togs come over for tours and workshops, quite possibly not entirely legit either...

Some do it properly. Others just come here to shoot.

Rob answered that better than I can, it is his area, I'm just an amateur. I have never been out of NZ, never seen the need. My experience then it is a wonderful place to visit and shoot shoot shoot

You should go tomorrow, plenty of rain has fallen today that should help

Only went as was passing by to pick up one of my daughters from grandparents

had a day trip to Gisborne today for work, luckily turned out to be a half hour job had a few hours before my flight so after a beer i went for a walk.

there not fantastic, but i need to make a start getting back into it. (any pointers welcome)

They are snaps just like my resent trips were.

Lets face it first thing in morning and last thing in evening is when we get dramatic light. During the day unless we PP the hell out of the photo is a snap.
Flat light is flat light.

However

We both got out there and did something. Don't give up. I find I use these "trips" as a scouting for a trip that will involve early morning or evening next time.

Something I must start to do is bracket my "snaps" then either blend or PP selectively to make them a bit more "interesting"

Lightroom 6 is out having play at work with pano feature and when I find some picks the new HDR function

Any performance gains?

20D HDR 3 exposures no HDR look (need to do a landscape HDR)

panos stich well from tests.

Seems bit quicker picks up on my graphics adapter
