Some bridge shots Mark, is that the bridge near Port Waikato?

And what happened to your job? Hope you don't have to start selling cameras.

I took a Drive on Sunday with Dave (aka Manipula), we ended up having lunch in New Plymouth with Mark Harris, great trip, great company and some great light on the way back.

it's the Fairfield bridge which is the same design as the bridge your thinking of. This is only 1km from where I live so it was just a short walk just after 9am.

I hope I don't have to sell the gear. I'm not that broke yet. I do have a couple of leads when it comes to work but it comes down to them getting the client. The funny thing is that both companies are going after the same client.

I got made redundant due to the company that I was with losing a client and they couldn't find me work to carry on with. I'm liking not going to work at the moment but it's only been 4 days. fingers crossed I find something.

Hi Guys, I am planning on a really quick 2 week visit to New Zealand next year with my family for my mothers 80th birthday.

I'm a little worried about my camer gear. For example will I need to buy new ND grad filters for the southern Hemisphere, as my current set has the dark part on the wrong side!
What else will I need to think of?

Ummmm... seems you will have to get something to put those upside down filters on as camers don't work at all in NZ, you need the good old fashioned camera I'm afraid. :p:-P:-D

You'll a need a tripod that works the other way around, and don't forget to have the camera orientation sensor recalibrated when you get here.
If you have a 70-200 or similar lens with a tripod mount collar you should be able to turn it over yourself.

Check! I'll start looking, or seeing if I can modify my Manfrotto.
None of my lenses have rotateable tripod mounts, so maybe it is time for new glass!!

I'll look into a pinhole.
Unfortunately even my old Pentax SLR was bought in the Northern Hemisphere after my old one got stolen in Spain in 1987. Probably also won't work.
On the other hand if I buy the films in New Zealand, they are probably orientated the other way around, so it might be OK.

And nice Photo Chris.

^^ Thankyou for your nice comments Peter. To take Skytower I turned the 6D into a point and shoot and used her on full greenbox auto. We are not supposed to admit that sort of thing ;-)a. A meet up would be nice, even if it is just a few quiet drinks and chat.

Film. Really? -?

Cheers, trying to get the lighting right is my main goal.

I may be doing some headshots for work, nothing fancy, but would be nice to get some half decent results.

Background is the kitchen, house is pretty small so no way to do a backdrop.

Will be doing the actual stuff at work, so will have space.
Was thinking when the time comes to do a purplish background (similar to company color), then light it with a flash to try get it go from white (blown out) at the bottom to purple at the top?

Trying different things with how it looks when you have your head at different angles with the posing. looking at pictures online is great, but im finding it hard actually work out how achieve the results in practice.

any thoughts to some easy go to poses for work headshots?
