Iceland looks great, but I need to see South Island first :)

see the world before you get to old to fly, when you can't fly then you see NZ.

having travelled a bit, I'd say there's a shedload worth seeing in New Zealand, more than other places...

Jeez, theres lots of pretty nice photos posted here over the past couple of weeks. Keep it up.

I am struggling organizing my short New Zealand trip for next year.

Having trouple as my better half finds the whole prospect of traveling half way around the world for 2 weeks ridiculous.
I have to agree with her.. but with the kids in school, and her being a teacher.. it means we are extremely restricted in our holiday time schedules.

Doesn't look like I will be able to organize a GKPE or just a get together when I am there.

have been in San Jose last week for work, managed to get some time to walk about in the evenings.
Is quite a nice city, liked it more than San Francisco.

has anyone had any experience with lightroom and lightroom mobile? the quality of they photos that sync from the ipad to the laptop dont seem to be that good? im i doing something wrong?
these are all sync'd and there not full size as if i had done it from importing from SD card to computer and editing.
these were imported via wifi to the ipad, edited and then sync'd to laptop. quality is fine for instagram but not great for internet.

sooooo... took my camera into canon NZ in Auckland yesterday to have the screen looked at.

they have told me it will not be covered under warranty as a dead pixel is not a malfunction ? no its not a malfunction, its clearly faulty.
I have now had 2 days of emails and should be getting a phone call from there GM tomorrow.

so i shall start by saying Im un-impressed, canons warranty is pretty basic and no one could show me were it says it not covered by warranty

'Canon manufacturer’s warranty
In addition to your consumer rights, Canon offers the following manufacturer’s warranty:
With normal use and service, during the Warranty Period stated below, Canon warrants the Products will be free from defects arising wholly or substantially from faulty parts, manufacture and workmanship'
https://www.canon.co.nz …Terms-Conditions-Warranty (external link)

the service manager sent me this link
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_13406-2 (external link)
yep, a wiki link.
this is to prove that it will not be covered, as a single black pixel does not come under the requirements.
please note the table is for maximum failures from 1million pixels, and canon 6D lcd has 345600 pixels from what i can work out.
it has 1040k dots, a dot is a sub pixel, 3 sub pixels make a pixel. so 1040000(dots, sub pixels) / 3 = 345600 pixels.
the screen has a resolution of 720 x 480 pixels, this also works out at 345600 pixels.

they say the LCD is a class II screen, therefore can have 2 dead pixels per 1 million.
in his table, type 1 and 2 reference to a pixel, therefore a set of 3 sub pixels, type 3 is a reference to a single sub pixel (dot).

based on this and the screen size, for a dead pixel (type 2) it is a less that 1 pixel failure is considered a faulty screen.

he has also said a brand new camera out of box with a dead LCD screen pixel would not be fixed as it is considered within spec.

he also said that as the screen did not effect the way the unit took photos then i should worry about having it fixed.
it is under warranty, it is broken, how is this so hard to have fixed!

what do you guys think?

I think you start quoting the consumer guarantees act.

Only it should be the shop you bought it from argueing with Canon, not you directly. Again, consumer guarantees act, the shop sold you the faulty product, it is up to the shop to resolve the issue.

Not totally sure what your doing here?
Sounds like your using LR mobile to get content from one computer to another via your iPad?

LR mobile doesn't get a full res file to work with, only a compressed low res version. The idea is any adjustments done in LR mobile are sync'd back to LR and applied to the original file.
Your not supposed to be able to get a high res file from LR mobile, you need to go back to the original file on your computer to do that.
