Keep posting Chris,

I will be around to view :)

just for those that don't know,

Joie de vivre (French pronunciation: [ʒwa də vivʁ], joy of living) is a French phrase often used in English to express a cheerful enjoyment of life; an exultation of spirit.

My photography has taken a bit of dive at the moment. Got one roll of film developed and didn't like anything on it. Went for a little holiday to Owera and just a basic snap shot I stuffed up. So it's like after all these years I can't take a basic snap shot :(

Mark, urban rainbow was taken in Orewa and is definately a snap shot. I realised I was driving into a rainbow and pulled over and stopped and shot thru a dirty windscreen. Camera was set on av so went to work quickly, auto makes snap shooting easier. I do believe it is the fact you got an acceptable shot that is important, not how you got it. Use auto if you have it, just not necessarily exclusively.

I know how disapointing it is not to have a single shot on a roll of film that you like. I learnt on film (mainly self taught.... yeah I know, it shows!!!! :D ) and can remember the days when press photogs and other pros considered getting a good shot out of 36 was a great result. (The press rolled their own film into canisters).

I have also learned over the years, that old adage 'use it or loose it' is true which is why athletes train every day, and pianists practice every day etc. Artists also art every day. Practice makes perfect but also cuts down on thinking time as you also go into auto. Keep snapping away on the digital, film is costly to practice on.

Next time you holiday around Orewa give us a yell, I could tag along and even if not keep up, just watch :)

I can safely say Auckland is the prettiest city in NZ.

I dont want pretty, I want ruggard ......... extremes in weather thats whats makes for great landscapes.

That's a very subjective opinion and yet I can understand where you are coming from.

I've seen some of your Whatipu pics, but there are also some pretty rugged areas on the west coast beaches Karekare comes to mind. Also just now the Desert Rd is not too far away and in extreme weather. Port Waikato area can be pretty bleak as well.

I don't know if you saw the news Sunday and the snow in Clinton. I have lived there and found extreme weather is much better to visit than to actually live with.

Stumbled upon a vintage camera store in Vienna and picked up this mint EOS 3 SLR. It must have been really advanced during its time! I now need to figure out how to use the eye control and set the focus points properly, but the first 2 rolls of film from this has been so sweeet!

I know it's supposed to be bleak but it looks a tad underexposed.

I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable they are, considering they have the AF system of the Eos 1V and some 'weather sealing' built in and the layout still feels so familiar to the 5D.

A quick check from Ebay and there are a few for sale at around the $200-400 NZ range.

yea I also have to get some development equipment, but the camera for the features is a good buy esp since I can use my existing lenses

probably a stop under what the camera decided was reasonable. Looks rubbish if viewed as-shot!

foggy it was, probably 10 mins after the sun had started breaking through and 1/2 an hour after I was supposed to have been elsewhere working. I blamed the traffic & no-one batted an eyelid :-)

view the other way:
