that's good to know. I would like to do one a photography workshop but got the Europe trip next year.

sorry - seeing as there is supposed to be a "supermoon" next week I thought I'd try & work out what was a reasonable backdrop for a rising moon shot.
Using the website & co-ordinates + time, either the first one (which I estimate works out be a moon rising behind the skytower) or the second one (moon rising behind Mt Eden) would be worth shooting given I get sod-all time going out to do any sort of photography these days. Website gives you an idea of where the moon (and sun for that matter) rises for any particular point of view for any particular day & time.


some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

not saying its a great photo at all but it has an amusing story behind it, I put out my tripod ready to put in the car, when I gotback with my keys, there was my neighbour's cat guarding it for me :lol:

not at all - there's some quite serious dark on the other side of the road (a ghost bike in remembrance of Jane Bishop, who was killed by a truck probably about where the suv with trailer is in your shot)
Nice leading lines with the wall, and some great clouds too...
