As I understand it, canon glass works reasonably well on Sony bodies with an adapter, so you could try it out to see how you like it before going all in on native lenses?

that's what I was thinking also. I also like using vintage lens and features the camera gives for manual focusing helps also.

I will see. The 6D does well and it's 5 years old.

I will have to give the camera ago before biting the bullet.

Bought the A7R2 a couple of years ago. Really like the size and weight. Plus I keep all my L glass.

same reason I got a M5... much as I like the 1D3, I don't want to lug it (+lenses) around everywhere.
It isn't the quickest focusing camera I've ever used, but it's quicker than driving home & getting the 1D3!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I bought the original M and then when that broke while overseas panic bought the M3. I like the M3 but no wired remote drives me mad!

My cheap knock off wired remote broke recently, and I was about to buy another, then I remembered I can just use my phone connected wirelessly. Gives me remote live view as well which can be really handy. When I shot this the wharf was fenced off for repairs, so I lifted the camera on a tripod onto the wharf from below, lined it up using the remote live view and shot with the remote shutter.

If you are worried about size and weight take a look at micro 4/3. I can carry 2 cameras and 6 high quality lenses in my little peak design Everyday Sling all day and not be bothered by the weight at all. Or slip the little GX85 with a small prime into a pocket. Obviously there are some compromises with the smaller sensor, but the trade off works for me. You can adapt Canon lenses, but it isn’t really ideal.

Funny how a gear discussion brings the thread to life......

I think it rather ironic. Some time back I mentioned I was having probs with the 6D and lens's weight and now I find all you healthy young fellas have similar thoughts. I would really like to give a drone a shot but not sure about the camera and lens quality as I am still into reportage as opposed to artistic multi layer blend type pics. I do believe it would solve most the problems I am having, the main one being breathing and holding the cam up to my eyes at the same time. Can't bend ova for those low down shots either :-(.

Thanks Chris.

I could carry my 5D gear no problem, I just found that more and more often I didn't want to. I don't have that problem anymore.

It was much easier in the old film days, SLR bodies were not so large and the kit lens, usually 50mm foot zoom type, was not so bulky, so haveing a camera slung over your shoulder or with you at all times, was in fact easy. Not as cheap to run tho'.

seemed a bit quiet in the forums, then the distinct sound of gunfire in the lounge. Hopefully no-one hurt....

did anyone buy anything from Turners last night?

you saw the gun thread eh? ;-)a

there was a Trademe auction of a lot of Canon stuff on Thurs from Turners Auckland, I put in a couple of bids on a lens & another on a camera but figured the unknown condition of both meant that the end prices were a shade higher than I was comfortable with.
(e.g. an 85mm f/1.2 MK II for $1905.00 - when a new one can be had for $2400, and the 1DX with no charger going to $3290 before I decided the risk of a non-functional unit outweighed any potential cost savings...)

plus, a 400mm f/2.8 IS MK II lens went for $7050 again, condition "as is, where is"
