I spend too much time (and money) in that building. Particularly the shop at the bottom of those stairs. (If I am right about where it is)

As more areas get closed down to kauri die back have to start planning some new trips.

Did some more reading about tracks out whatipu and then found an old photo that had all the peaks in 1 shot.
Have done number 1 .......signal station track ...... about 30 min causal walk up. Be a great spot for sunset.

I guess having a drone could save me the effort ;)

They don’t cope that well with strong gusty winds. A drone isn’t going to replace your SLR (or mirrorless) camera and hiking boots, but they do let you get angles and shots you can’t get any other way.

Also a lot of the east coast beaches (from Piha north) are under controlled airspace which greatly restricts flying there. https://www.airshare.co.nz/maps (external link)

That’s a cool photo. It could be wallpaper or even sold as art

Agreed.

Thanks. Shots with the camera pointing straight down can be really interesting, but I also think it is a bit over done at times.

this often happens accidentally, and usually produces images of ones' own feet...

Got to love youtube videos. Found one of a guy who did the 3 peaks at whatipu. Climbs to the furtherest 1 the on to the rest
starts at 2.20 mark

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MenL3bbXW6Y (external link)

Some great views think the 1 with seat would be most photographic 7.10 mark

They do say it needs to be dry, otherwise a bit slippery when wet and some of those drops go along way down
