I'm not seeing a halo (but I'm not wearing my glasses) maybe it is the out of focus background, as I focused on the branch. I took a shot with the background in focus, but I didn't like it as much. As for being acceptable, I think it is, because that is what I was intending, but I'm sure it isn't everybody's cup of tea. My eyes didn't have enough dynamic range for the scene, so I think any camera would struggle with lifting the shadows when it was pointed straight at the sun. I tried, and it wasn't pretty.

Thanks Tony. :-)

I took the drone up this afternoon over the mud flats at low tide.

The cloud looks a little odd, almost fake, maybe too much contrast? Other than that it’s a nice shot.

More sunrise and mud flats from me....

I gotta agree with Scott on all counts. Just wondering on the dramatic cloud comment, did you try dropping highlights way back in raw and or, a little dodge and burn (darkening) works well in some software but no so much in others. Enjoy yr drive back from Chch, I am jealous. I have done that trip several times, with a caravan, to and from Clinton in Southland.

Can any of you tech experts give me a reason as to why my touch screen on the G9 would be sort of not working by touch sometimes? Do the batteries in my finger go flat?

Eldest daughter did that a couple of years ago. Had a curry chicken dinner in Picton, jumped on the ferry and developed food poisoning. Had an urgent flight to Wellington the following morning, taxi to Porirua hospital (being re-hydrated) and I had to drive it back.

Good luck with the job. Remember, age is just a number....

Doesn’t sound right. I’d never experienced my finger getting a flat battery with any of the 5 touch screen Panasonic’s I have had. I’m still getting used to using the joystick to select the focus point on the G9 rather than using the screen like a touchpad.

is there a sensor by the eyepiece that detects when the unit is up by your eye? if so it could be you're covering that and it thinks the touch-screen should be disabled.

the silly people at Canon set the M5 up by default not to do this, with the result that when anyone gets a new one, they get brassed off with their nose selecting odd focus points by accident....

Me too, but then I'm still getting used to having a movable screen, amongst other things. The problem has been trying to set up bracket shots, oh yes then being unable to delete stuff. Then it all went ... Oh bother! heh heh heh:cry:
