I have looked at the Forgotten Highway a number of times, for a little trip and explore. Is it as good as advertised?

I'm not sure, I think I did the road about 32 years ago in my new company car (Carona Amon) relocating from Wellington to Auckland, but I wasn't really concentrating on the scenery. I'm going through that way on the way south so will report back.

I had similar problems but I didn't have a very smart phone, a very smart tablet or a very smart me. So I gave up. A guy who used to post here used I think magic lantern? If memory serves correct it allows remote control as well as adds a few more features to what the cam can already do.

Tried the app again, got the camera and phone paired, but when tried to use became confused, so used the timed exposure.

So far no ML for the M5 apparently. I might buy a remote trigger - seems simpler.

EOS M5 wifi capability is by far the most unreliable piece of communications software I have even encountered. Very poorly documented and just frequently doesn't work.
Best described as rubbish.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

So looked at GFX50 and Hasy X1D-50c both suffer from lack of lens. Canons only option 5Dsr ……….. I see no point on a small jump might as well double MP, I did with 5D classic to 1Dsmk3.

Lets hope Canon introduce something next year ………….. Yeah I know G.A.S is strong with me at moment :)

Just grab one of these:

https://ksassets.timeincuk.net …/11/IMG_0299-1220x814.jpg (external link)

and only use the 80 megapixel option. Lots of lenses to go!

However from another angle, if you are planning on spending thousands of dollars on a camera that will be able to still take lousy landscapes, it seems to me it would behove you to spend a few hundred and go on a course as has been previously suggested, to teach you some techniques you have not already thought up yourself. You could even learn that the camera and lenses you already have are perfectly adequate for the job.

BTW you need 4 times the mp to print twice as large.

Hth.

:D

Depends on viewing distance. Billboards are not printed at 300 dpi.

Where’s the fun in that? :p

I totally understand the desire for a new Camera now and then, nothing wrong with it. But no, it won’t make your photos better.

I could usually get the EOS app to work with my 70D, but not much luck, so far with M5. While timer release is ok it doesn't always "stick", and have to reset after each exposure. I've seen a remote control somewhere, and it's compact, can do bulb exposure, so think I will order one. Tonight!

Choose a body, keep your glass. I keep getting blown away by the a7r2.

Tag good to see you still checking in ……

Scott totally agree, bit like buying a RX8 great fun then you go why the hell did I buy this :)

At this stage I cannot justify the $15k price point and that's with only 1 lens. Lets see what 2019 brings. Its always fun looking.

"Inspiration" that seems to be my biggest issue. Heck 10 years ago as a group we were always out and about going on shoots, testing each others gear out having meetups bbqs. For many of us life just got busy and priority's changed. Just tired of shooting same beaches and scenes.
