Anyone here ever lived in Queenstown/Wanaka area?

Yep Im looking at moving, but I don't want to go cheap, as would sell at 65 and move back to a warmer climate :)

Would be looking at selling up here this time next year once daughter finished uni.

My brother & his family moved from Hamilton to Wanaka 18 months ago. Currently renting but are building (his son is a chippy) a couple of houses on the side of Lake Hawea. They love it.

Well you certainly wont get cheap in that area, is the most expensive real estate in NZ.

I have lived in Dunedin, Clinton, Christchurch, Waimate, Blenheim, Picton. Clinton is due to feature in a near future "Fair go" episode I understand.
I absolutely adore the South Island.

A word of warning, where ever you go, you take you with you. Nothing changes except where you are.

I'm at work, can't you tell. One night shift on Monday, taking Tuesday night off. Driving to Wgtn on Wednesday to pick up some of the youngest daughter's furniture as she is moving to Paris next Sunday.

good capture of those swallows. I could never get them in fight easy. Fantails bit easier but not by much.

Never managed a fantail in flight ever, so far - tried often enough too.

I think on the old hellophoto site a guy there had some good fantail photos - chap from Tauranga or somewhere, a picture framer I think? Can't bring his name to mind at the moment. He has a garden too - Nigel Gnome he calls himself, but I'm sure he another name.

Had a good trip out to Muriwhai, motorway for most of the trip so 45 min trip now. To much gear my back needs a lighter load. The 100-400 did well with birds, no 300F2.8 but sharp. 16-35 preformed well, but as I've been thinking about getting 11-24 I did have a occasion to need that wide, have found NiSi do filters for it now, just need to find a secondhand one to cover filter costs.

Tide was out so got to walk around the stack below the main look out by fisherman's rock, went down far end no seals yesterday.

My thinking about composition etc is getting a bit better but still need to slow down ….. photos tonight
