Another from our family West Coast roadie. Lake Matheson - it was a dreary day but a fun family walk around the lake. With this image I tried a 5 exposure bracket merged using Affinity Photo on iPad Pro..

Thoughts or suggestions?

very nice - must have been very calm to be able to do five brackets :-)

Thanks Rose - it was like glass. I’ve seen many shots from Lake Matheson and when we arrived in Franz Josef I pondered trying to get out with my gear. I looked on the map and saw the ideal image was from the far (western) end of the lake. I pushed the idea out of my mind thinking it was a half day walk only to discover the walk around the entire lake is only an hour.

Local media been making much of four metre swells off the coast. My timing not so good as this was about two hours before low tide, and a local said it's calmed a lot. At Haumoana looking towards Napier.

I often feel jealous of shots from people on the large continents, as they seem to get much less wind than us. I recall gorgeous autumn shots with reflections on lake waters from Canada and the US.

Yes - which has it's own appeal of course, but those lovely shots of aspens reflected in lakes "-)

Check the data. Long shutter speeds flatten water and bring up reflections, using ND filters.

Topaz have very kindly given me their new version, I rather like it, taken Dec 2005 on my trusty Fuji 305s, original below.

Haumoana today - still a bit of the Easterly swell. Had a go with the CPL as well, but notice when I shot with sun over my shouder got significant vignetting.

Yes but in NZ if there's foliage, and it's windy the foliage moves. I know you can do two shots and combine in PS, but I don't really have the knowledge and skills for that.

For some (very weird) reason, I read this as CPL, so put one on today. I can see when get it right that it great, but need angles to sun correct. I obviously need to read more and practice more.

This seemed ok, even although not right angled to sun. The main problem seemed to be when I shot over my shoulder (sun being behind) and I got vignetting. Too lazy to fiddle around and take CPL off.

I have ND filters, and while I don't do it often, it is one of my favourite forms of photography.

Cross posted with G9 thread. Haumoana today, a bitterly cold wind, and a wee bit of surf.

Nice!

Thanks - wondered if I had lost too much in shadows so ran it through SNS-HDR.
