It's a nice trip down there, although it tends to be plagued with road works, mind you so is the rest of NZ! There is a film about the Whanganu River during the early years of settlement called River Queen, worth a view.

Yes bit of a mess but getting sorted, the landscape is something out of this world but needs to be right light. I think the 5 day river trip would be worth it for the experience.
Even this waterfall got effected by slips (Raukawa Falls from look out) what they looked like before landside https://www.flickr.com …/15967163@N00/3061355055/ (external link)

A couple of mornings ago my dog kept barking in a playful way - I assumed the back neighbours had a dog visiting. However it turned out to be a baby blackbird.

I had to keep admonishing him to "leave it", and it seemed he was happy to bark at it, until it moved. Theh he sort of plunged after it, wanting to play I think.

After two days of trying to protect this bloody bird, with it's parent hovering with a delectable worm much of the time, I heard my dog whimpering this morning. It seems the bird has developed a modicum of flying ability and was perched/trapped in a kowhai tree. Unfortunately while I tried for a second shot the bird flew/lurched off, as my dog rattled the tree. It flew off over the fence.

The universe has given me a couple of swerves recently which sort of has lead me to a point of thinking, well I do actually need to 'put my affairs in order.'

I have a Canon RC 6, never used, free to the highest bidder. I would prefer not to have to ship, and I live not far from North Shore Hosp should someone wish to pick it up. It is never been used, I make absolutely no guarantees apart from it has never been used and hardly ever out of its pouch, it looks like it did in the shop.

I will wait for PMs.

So sorry to hear this Chris. Is there any way things can get better?

Thinking of you. And while I don't know what that Canon is - maybe Trademe or one of the online things?

Hi Chris

Sorry to learn things are not going so well for you. If you need a hand with anything I am not that far away - at least I am in Auckland!

That looks like a fairly healthy dinner (especially if the burger was grilled). Lot of colour means lots of different nutrients and minerals.

Correct and I may call you up on that offer. Thanks. I first saw that stalk when it had somehow landed by my tap while I was washing dishes. Give me quite a start! :D

What a very healthy dinner! Plenty of colour ... I have become a bit lazy after living alone for a number of years ....

Couldn't work out what the other shot was - good spotting Tronhard.
