sorry to hear that - I guess understandable but still not good... suspect it's just the tip of the iceberg that we're seeing currently.

Hope you all can stay safe...

We all have to get on with it of course - whatever that happens to be.

Very difficult times to come though, for lots of people.

In one way I feel lucky, that, as a nurse, there'll be work. On the other hand the idea of working in full PPE for an extended period, if we get covid 19, appalls me.

I work in pathology. I went into a collection centre. It looked like a scene from Chernobyl. We ran out of PPE last week and couldn't get anymore until today. That lot will last about 3 days. Then we have to direct patients to A&E. We've gone from testing a dozen or so to well over 1000 nearly every day from across the state.

Sheesh!!

I have been wondering how long PPE stocks would last.

Heard one thing that that NZ had 9 million stock, maybe masks. IN our ward we just looked at each other, and shook our heads ...

One use only ..... do the maths ....

Maybe that's why there is 71 workers with it somewhere .....

speaking of nurses, shout out to all the folks at our local GP that are certainly their pay. Imagine it's the same where Roseyposy is.
Visited with #3 son (suspected concussion after another student slammed his face/head into a desk) and the serious activities were hard to miss.
Car pulls up outside, two staff in PPE run out & do their testing, then run inside to defrock & move on to next patient please. ding!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

So far no positive test in Hawkes Bay, so I haven't had to do the PPE, except for an ordinary possible flu, which wasn't.

Dreading when it hits though, as working in full PPE is an absolute pain.

Reminds me of spraying kiwifruit in full PPE gear in middle of summer........

cheers Chris, apparently he'll be fine - hopefully he'll learn something about deliberately provoking someone that reacts violently, one of those "lifes lessons"
but then I'm not holding my breath! he's a slow learner...
Probably good for him & his brother to also see at the GP's how they are actually handling the suspected covid cases rather than just seeing the hysteria in some of the media.

People really need to be phoning the health line to prevent unnecessary exposure of staff to covid 19 .... interesting to hear they are doing that.

Two test places opening in the Hawkes Bay, one tomorrow and the other Friday, to protect staff, and, importantly, also other patients in waiting rooms.

certainly was different from when I did a general health-check there only a few weeks ago, there is a taped line on the floor in front of receptionists with do-not-cross written on it. (not sure how many folks would ignore this however, certainly those of us who have ever passed thru US immigration stood well behind the line)
Even the pharmacist next door had a taped line on the floor in front of the counter. Both places seemed to be coping but only just. While we were waiting, the doctors were organising their own flu jabs that had just come in. Bit of banter around whether the dosage was for adults or kids so at least their sense of humour was still operating :-)
Must say the folks in the waiting room seemed to be keeping a fair distance from anyone else. I didn't see any sneezing or coughing so that's a positive...

I understand cops are on to some and it is not just young people, it is more ones who should know better, an older guy was skiting off on 1 news, "How are they gunna know?" They will.

Yes been a few stories locally about the same issue. A woman went to a car dealer, had arrived from Oz two days before, and no intention of self isolating. People going to be tested without phoning first.
