Canon R5 is going to cost about $8000 dollars ........... yet I can get a Fuji 50S cropped medium format for $8399.
Personally canon trying to much on video frontage to justify the price but then again Im not into video.

I am interested in the R6. that suites me just fine.

As for the video features, never really going to use them so I don't care if they are there. The 10D that I brought in '03 cost me $3500 (which is 4,941 in todays money) the same camera today will have more stuff. This is the way tech works.

They both look like great cameras.

Its not like I don't have the gear and experience .... its comming up with something fresh and new that people want.

Just ask them and then supply it. People are always happy to tell what they want, even if it is nothing.

I think you are sort of having a problem with definition, you need to define what you feel you need to improve in your fotos then work on that. Taking it to the next level, moving up a bar etc are not good enough, there is no definition there.

Selling pics, where are you showing them and who to? I don't know of any people who would buy pictures to get on the computer and and look for "Pictures I Like". A few advertisers perhaps buying stock photos for cents.

Printing a book is good, people get to hold it in their hands, it is tangible, it is evidence of the finished foto, not just something on the internet that may turn out as good in a finished product.

Define what you want to work in. Is it fine art? Define that area for yourself then go mad researching and practicing.

pretend you are working with film. Film is expensive so you get one shot to get it right. I have made a living years ago out of candid night photography at dances resturants meetings etc. We sold a colour print, mounted, postcard size, pay now and get a money back guarantee that your photo will arrive with in a fortnite and you will like it. We will refund even if you just don't like the shot. In 12 months I had 2 refunds, and this was Auckland. Just so as not to confuse, this was film, not digital.

Looking at sales of final prints, there is a series of 'Interior Design' shops in Auckland. What about approaching their buyers with quality large size landscape prints they can resell as part of their stock? I don't believe the average person looks at pictures on the net other than to fill in time.

In all honesty I'm not sure a new camera is going to solve your blues either.

Dunno if this will break the thread again or make people mad. And, yeah, DO stop complaining and DO start doing constructively.

yep that's will break the thread :D

for me a new camera will help as I don't like the 6D. But it's cheaper to buy a new film camera as the R6 is close to 5K eeek. that's more than what I am spending on landscaping for the new house.

Funny you should say that, I liked my 400D much better than my 6D, was never able to work out why. I still fight with the Panasonic G9 as well.

I don't know just why Camera makers are intent on selling us photographers a movie camera. Oh yes I expect to make telephone calls and and do texts on my cell phone also.

There was a YouTube clip that said having a camera with out video wouldn't be any cheaper, however I agree with you.

Yes how to define. I am having a mid photo life crisis :)
I have concluded so far that im quite a lazy photographer and I rush shots and rush post processing.
I do not have a distinct "style" where people would say ah that's a Tony photo we know his style.

All my photos are processed differently and I don't have a set methodology. As for composition well the only tony style there is horizon is always in center, a bad habit I need to deal with.

Redoing my website shows me some of the above, dust bunnies on photos and other basic mistakes. Photos of all sorts of crop factors.

A new camera will help, the reason is to simplify and reduce weight and to help with some age issues. The fuji 50S is same size as 5Ds. What it does offer is tilt able LCD screen and a tilt able view finder for getting low. I dont need more than 50mp. The fuji lens are not cheap so I could only afford 1 lens to start with but which 1? Im looking at 32-64 and 100-200.

My new backpack will take my camera and a wide lens and 1 tele. So im already starting to reduce options, "DO start doing constructively." tick :)

Point to note Canon mirrorless will not save me any weight as lens are no lighter

It depends on what you're comparing - my M5 & 18-150mm I can carry around all day (but nowhere as good a camera as the 1Dx so dilemma)
If you're keeping the existing EF lenses then you're right about weight as far as the lens goes, but what happens if you go to RF lenses? certainly your wallet would be lighter.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Why can't they use existing lens mounts .... why change with every camera system? Oh I know $$$$$$

Canon M5: A variety of Canon, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, prime and zoom lenses, Samyang fisheye, 2 lovely Minolta MD, just for fun a Helios 44-2 58m - and adapters.

I believe it has to do with the distance of lens to shutter, that's why adapters are different size depending on make of lens

The RF lens range will only grow and offer new and better options. The RF equivalent of EF lens are generally better quality sharper and sometime lighter. Also look at the new 600 and 800 F11 RF lens, be interesting to see the results

Canon on their 3rd change FD EF RF then there is EF-S and ????
