Council have a plan for that - it involves removing all the trees & replacing them with butt-ugly apartment blocks.... ;-)a

All the land is getting chopped up and apartments going up all around us as well amazing what they can fit onto 800sq section

Thanks. I went out again this morning, but upon review they were mostly boring compositions, so I need to do some work on that. The camera is great though, and I kinda like this one:

The raw files have so much more room for manipulation that the G9!

I like it too - lots of different layers going on...
[horizon doesn't look straight - is it my eyesight? :p]

Dunno, it’s impossible to tell if the horizon is straight because the horizon isn’t in the photo. It’s hidden somewhere behind all those layers of islands. Horizon does not equal shoreline. :p

I agree - it looks off. There's two bodies of water and both look to be at different angles ..... leaning down to the right.

I’m curious. What us your conclusion based on, if there are no lines parallel with the horizon in the photo?

Edit: actually don’t bother. I can’t be bothered arguing about the difference between a horizon and a shoreline, or skyline that is at an angle to the horizon.

I'm with Scott, it looks very level, but is also a bit of an illusion as the shorelines on each end are at different angles.

For ever. I have lived there for more than the Nth Is and still have not seen it all. Otherwise, possibly Autumn. Take some warm clothes.

QUESTION

Many years ago before kids we did the Queenstown to Invercargill (via Milford) then Dunedin via Catlins and finally Dunedin back to Queenstown. We took six days and did not spend enough time in the Catlins or Dunedin and that didn't include exploring around Queenstown.

You could go to Christchurch, then head over to Mt Cook, should be able to do that in a day, spend a whole day around Mt Cook, then head down to Queenstown, spend a day or two there, then onto Milford, try and stay there a night to get out on the sound in the early morning, then to Invercargill, at least one night and at least a whole day in the Catlins, off to Dunedin, at least a whole day there, then back up to Christchurch. So that is the bottom half, at least 10 days there.

Or you could go north from Christchurch through Kaikoura, up to Blenheim, over to Nelson, then back all the way down the West Coast to Haast, then head inland to Wanaka (also near Mt Aspiring) them on to Queenstown and then the above route. At least another 5 days if you stop at Kaikoura, Nelson or Blenheim, Westport of Greymouth, maybe Haast then Wanaka. No Mt cook in this route though but you do have Franz Josef to tic the glacier box.

Might be able to do the whole thing in two weeks?
