10 points if you know what this fence is made of, 15 if you know of it's proper use, 30 if you were around when it was made...

...thinking...:eek::rolleyes:...

Made of steel and I think coated, I believe I have held them in my hands but for the life of me I can not think why. I wondered if they was some sort of ramp? The 'L' tabs on the side make me think they fit into a heavier metal piece.

Camper van then too so it's easier to stay longer if needed :) Most of the drives are around half a day non-stop, so should be time for shooting. Also depends if there is a non-photographer travelling too, they might get bored!

Sounds about right Weka. You can do Southland to Nelson via Haast, Franz and stay on the West Coast, wild drive, wild country, absolutely beautiful, stunning scenery. Take warm clothes ;)

perfect! funny the first time I seen this sort of thing was used exactly the same way (for a fence) in Singapore in the early '70's - my Dad pointed it out & explained what it was & where it had come from. Really strange to see the stuff nearly 50 years later just down the road from me. :-)

lots & lots to see indeed - there was a French woman trailing around the south Island posting lots of superb shots recently. Can't remember her potn username but she'd probably have some very useful suggestions for you [goes hunting thru the landscape section]

NEWS UPDATE

we have sold house and brought another .......while I wanted to move to south island my wife wouldn't have a bar of it so we compromised. I do get my snow capped mountain's rivers and lakes within a short drive

where did I buy :)

No new camera gear just yet I have to justify switching systems which gives canon time to change my mind . I wanted to get to Otago for autumn colours but not sure if I will have time and money before we settle. However once settled will have both so will get down for a week once snow starts to build up.
Decided smaller week trips better than a 1 big trip.
