Well, well! Still active after all these years! Great to see some familiar folks still rambling. I still have my Canon 5DMkII and still taking a few pics. I will look in again soon, maybe include a photo.

Cheers, Bruce

So family trip to snow day ....up at 6 on rd by 7am. Came up to National park and no snow 4 degrees on car temp. So headed to Ohakune and up the mountian rd. No snow, road closed at 9km rd .......ummm there should be snow. Wife and kids giving me greif so thought I would try Bruce road so back around we drove no snow as we headed up but temp had dropped to 2 degrees ...... nek minute saw snow flakes on windshield as we got up to the Chateau Tongariro Hotel we could see it was snowing ...........

1hr later it dumped it :)

Finally Ive been in a snow storm.

Didnt have chains to get up but couldnt see anything anyway. Will head down again this week as its school holidays just need more snow and then some fine weather for sunrise and sunset.

Cheatau could do with a couple of mill spent on it but would be well worth preserving.

I actually used my camera, with a filter attached!!! the other day. Went for a Sunday drive, nothing much exciting but this place may be ok for a sunrise visit, small walk from the road to the point, maybe something of interest down there. This is Maketu Point

Stayed there 1 & 2 Jan 2019 (when I cooked the head in the van). Pretty basic but it's all you need.
