My SX110IS is eating batteries while turned off!

Well, I can't figure this one out.. my Canon SX110IS is literally draining the batteries while turned off waiting to be used.. I can put a new set of batteries in, take a few pictures, and let it sit for a few days to a week and when I pick it back up the batteries are dead or will only fire the camera up to tell me I need to change them.

Anyone know what the problem is? This has me stumped.. For now I have to remove the batteries every time I set the camera down which is frustrating...

Are you using rechargeable batteries? After a number of charges, rechargeable batteries cannot hold a charge anymore.

What kind of batteries are you using? Conventional rechargeable batteries don't last at all in mine. I switched to Ray-O-Vac extended life rechargeables and haven't had an issue since.

I'm using traditional type alkaline batteries, ie Duracell and Energizer.

Never had any issues with conventional batteries. Might need a trip to Canon. It shouldn't drain the batteries if it isn't turned on.
